Our group is composed of members who appreciate, conserve and collect items relating to the ophthalmic sciences. Many are accomplished historians specializing in such topics as spectacles, quackery, instrumentation, and the personalities of the ophthalmic sciences. Annual meetings serve as opportunities for members to present research, tour venues of common interest, socialize and hold swap meets of items relating to our ophthalmic heritage.

The OAICC was founded by the late Derek C. Davidson, a College member, in 1982 on behalf of all those who take an interest in collecting the material evidence from our optical past.

Their mission is to educate people about the eye, vision and the history of Ophthalmology.

The oldest and one of the best optical museum collections in the world with over 16,000 outstanding objects relating to the history ophthalmic optics, the human eye and visual aids. Curated by Neil Handley, PhD, AMA, FRSA

A natural-sciences technical museum documents the aspects of microscope production and provides a good insight into the working and living conditions of the foremen, artisans and trainees.

New Eyes is strengthened by their partnership with thousands of social service agencies, optical dispensers, and vision missions.

The has thousands of items within their collections and displays including microscopes, Lensometers, multifocal and antique spectacles. They highlight incredible moments in history. Devoted to the history of the American Optical Company and serves as a valuable resource of ophthalmic history. Dick Whitney, curator, has found a permanent home in historic Southbridge, MA. for the artifacts of the American Optical Company.
